When a death occurs

Losing a loved one is a very upsetting and distressing time. When a loved one passes away expectedly at home, the first step to take is to call the doctor who cared for them last as soon as possible.

The doctor will then attend and verify the cause of death. Once the death has been verified and certified a medical certificate of cause of death will be completed by the doctor. The doctor will then issue the medical certificate and send it to the local registrar. The doctor will also notify you of how to register the death.

Once the doctor has registered the death we can then arrange to collect your loved one and bring them safely into our care.

Once the certificate of cause of death has been issued the next step to take is to contact the local registrar in the district of where your loved one passed away to book an appointment to register their death.

On completion of registering the death, the registrar will issue the death certificate and the green certificate (authorisation of cremation or burial certificate).

As soon as we have received the green certificate, we can then proceed to make the funeral arrangements for your loved one.
